Jigsaw Families at Home

Learning at home or at school, March 2020…

Free Stories with Activities

Introduction for parents/carers teaching their children at home

In these uncertain times surrounding the current pandemic, Jigsaw PSHE offers parents and children two of our original stories from the Jigsaw Families Programme:

  1. Fowley’s Wings (Fowley follows his dreams)
  2. The Switch Watch (A family and their crazy dog called Bongo work out how to enjoy each others’ company)
  • and two Calm Me times for you to listen to at any time with our compliments.

The stories are split into two parts, so after the first part you can enjoy a discussion on what you think might happen next, before playing the second part and then talk about how you thought it turned out.

We hope you enjoy the stories, discussions and activities, and also find a few minutes’ peace with your children during Calm Me time, especially useful during the crisis we are facing.

Also, why not join us in the Jigsaw Big Sing (a mass sing-a-long-at-home video project) details of which are below!

With best wishes

So What is Jigsaw?

Jigsaw is a complete set of lesson plans for schools, one for each week, covering personal development, social skills and health education for children and young people aged 3 years to 16 years.

Our aim is to equip children to understand who they are, to be healthy and happy and good, caring people.

There is a strong emphasis on emotional wellbeing and mental health.

We also try to support parents and carers as they help their children grow and develop, and in these difficult times are pleased to offer some activities which we hope you enjoy sharing with your children. Click here to find out more.

Jigsaw Families LogoThe Jigsaw Families Programme

The Jigsaw Families Programme is a unique 6-session programme run by specially trained facilitators (usually school staff) that brings parents and children together for some special time, to share stories and enhance their relationships (and work on improving any issues they may be facing in the family with behaviours etc). Click here to find out more.

We are very happy to share 2 stories from our Families Programme with you and have added some useful suggestions for learning activities you may like to encourage your children to do after listening to the stories.

All Jigsaw learning is underpinned by mindfulness, with Calm Me time in every lesson and in every Families session, so we are also sharing 2 of our Calm Me times, also from the Families Programme, and strongly encourage you to participate in these with your children.

In these stressful times, we hope these Calm Me times will bring a few minutes of peace.

Project: Jigsaw Big Sing

A fun video project we ran earlier in April, but you can still make use of the activities associated with the song we used for it.

Jigsaw PSHE lessons

We have specially adapted some Jigsaw PSHE lessons and learning activities for your children that we hope may also be enjoyable for children and parents alike.

We have chosen themes that may be most relevant and enjoyable at this time.
